La consola de Microsoft tuvo un bautizo complicado. Uno de sus padres, Seamus Blackley, habló con Edge sobre la decisión del nombre con el que saldría a la venta la consola. Xbox es un nombre acortado de DirectX Box, y en realidad nunca fue el nombre legal del producto que pasó por varios apodos claves antes de triunfar. 

Estos son todos los nombres contra los que ‘Xbox’ peleó. La mayoría, por no decir que todos, son bastante extraños y nos hace saber que la última decisión fue la mejor. Algunos nombres rozaban con lo increíble, pues pensaron en partes del cuerpo para llamarla, como FACE (rostro en inglés) o Mind (Mente en inglés).
